Hello everyone! I recently started this little personal blog here just under a month ago, and have been learning more and more along the way.
One of the things I have realized through my little quick take reviews is that I over-rate pretty much everything. I was giving pretty much every piece of media a 10/10 or 9/10.
As an example, let’s look at my Kaiju No. 8, Season 1-2 Review. For this review, I gave everything a 10/10, and while I DEFINITELY did enjoy the anime, a 10/10 on everything seems a bit overkill. Like, let’s be real here, everything was great, but the best of all time? No.
So, for future reviews I want to scale things back a bit.
Here is the setup
I want to have the rating for the reviews be more balanced, so I am going to rate them like this.
1 – 2 Generally bad.
3 – 4 It was ok.
5 – 6 It was good
7 – 8 It was very good.
9 – 10 YES, AMAZING!
I think this is a pretty good rating scale to use, and it generally makes sense for anyone who does not know what the scale is and is just looking at the review if they find my post!
I tried doing something like this on my last post, but what I am showing now is a fresh idea that I did not have in mind then, so it does not follow it exactly.
Going forward
So, going forward, I am going to try to make sure I follow this review rating system for my posts. While I do have this blog as MY personal blog and just really write reviews about whatever I want, however I want, I still want it to make sense, especially for the ratings.
I want anyone who happens to stumble upon my little website here to be able to make some sort of sense of my internet ramblings. I may or may not make a “Rating guide” page so people can find this, since I have seen other blogs do that, not sure yet though.
If I do make a “Rating guide” page, you will probably see it next to the other pages in the top right of the site. Well, that is all! Thank you for reading!
